Citroen’s DS5 diesel hybrid cuts emissions (again)

Citroen’s new DS5 hybrid model has just got even greener with emissions now reduced to as little as 91g/km CO2-a class leading result for a compact executive car.

The diesel-electric car only went on sale in the UK back in April and already Citroen has made improvements to the latest model to join its upmarket DS range. 

All three Hybrid4 200 Airdream EGS6 models in the DS5 range have been improved with new management software and a few technical enhancements to boost economy.  Key improvements include more efficient energy recovery when decelerating and braking.

On sale now, the newly re-homologated DS5 Hybrid4 drivetrain reduces the official CO₂ emissions for the DSign model from 99g/km to 91g/km (BIK tax band 10%). DStyle and DSport versions see their emissions reduce from 107g/km to 102g/km, with a BIK band change from 12 per cent to 11 per cent.

As previously announced in July, 17-inch ‘Houston’ alloy wheels are available as a no-cost option on Hybrid4 DStyle and DSport versions. These smaller diameter alloy wheels reduce the cars’ CO₂ emissions from 102g/km to 91g/km - the same as the entry-level DSign.

The new compact executive DS5 is available with a petrol, diesel or diesel-electric hybrid drivetrain. It joined the DS3 supermini and DS4 coupe as the third model in Citroen’s DS sub-brand and became the first model available to use the HYbrid4 diesel hybrid technology, first used by the Peugeot 3008.

Prices start from £22,400, rising to £32,200 for the range-topping DS5 DSport Hybrid4 version.
